About Me
I design with my hands, my head, and a lot of curiosity.

I’m Ty, the designer, maker, and creative facilitator behind designedbyty.
I turn complex ideas into expressive visuals through thoughtful design and hands-on creativity.I sketch layouts, build prototypes, paint collages, and guide teams through ideation.
I studied Industrial Design Engineering at bachelor’s level, after which I went on to earn a master’s degree in Data-Driven Design. These studies taught me to shape ideas with both logic and emotion, and to listen deeply, sketch freely, and create sensible and inspiring designs.
Along the way, I have built student communities, designed environmental dashboards and facilitated creative workshops. I have worked with NGOs, educators and changemakers who are passionate about their work, and together we have made ideas visible, inclusive and beautifully weird.

My creative practice is layered and tactile. I move fluidly between digital and physical media, allowing each tool to influence the way I think, feel and create. Sometimes that means sketching layouts in Figma or at other times, it involves soldering sensors or building prototypes using paper. These tools form part of the way I explore ideas.

However, the most important thing is how I use them.
I don’t just design; I also build, facilitate and visualise. My process is iterative, expressive and grounded in human connection. I sketch to think, prototype to test and co-create to listen. I believe that design should feel like a conversation, not a monologue. It should invite people in, allow for spontaneity, and make room for surprise.

I collaborate with researchers, educators, and changemakers who care deeply about what they do. Together, we turn ideas into something you can see, touch, and understand.
If you’ve got something on your mind, let’s design it!
